Privacy Policy
Your privacy is our top priority as we create and build the services and products you know and love. We value the trust you place in us and we don't take that trust lightly.
We will not compromise your privacy. All of our services and products are designed with your privacy in mind. We employ professionals in various fields such as legal, security, engineering and product design to ensure that no decision or action is made without considering your personal privacy.
We strive to be transparent in the way we handle your data. We know that inadequate information and confusing wording are common flaws in privacy rules because we use other online services that you also use. Our privacy policy and related materials are written in plain, easy-to-understand English so you don't have to deal with legalese or jargon. We are open and honest, and we hope that you read our rules and understand our privacy practices.
We work hard to protect the security of your information. We are committed to ensuring the safety of your information. To ensure the safety of your details, we regularly update our security protocols and invest in our security efforts.
We thank you for trusting our services and providing us with your personal information, and we plan to retain this information. First, make sure you fully understand what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your privacy options. This Privacy Policy explains our privacy practices in plain, easy-to-understand language, avoiding legal and technical jargon as much as possible.
This Privacy Policy applies as of August 14, 2024.
Effective Date: August 14, 2024.
2.Where this Privacy Policy applies
This Privacy Policy applies to all websites, applications, activities and services of Picky. In this Privacy Policy, for the sake of clarity, we refer to all of these collectively as "Services". We provide web links to this Privacy Policy and all relevant services to make it clearer.
Some services may have their own privacy policies. If a specific service has its own privacy policy, the latter's privacy policy takes precedence over our Privacy Policy.
Without some details about you, such as basic profile information and the types of people you want to meet, we won’t be able to help you make important connections. We may also collect information generated by your use of our Services in the form of access logs, as well as details from third parties, such as if you use a social media account to access our Services. We go into more detail about the information we may collect below.
When using our Services, you may choose to provide us with certain information. This includes:
When you create an account on our Services, you provide us with your login credentials and some basic information about yourself that is required for the Services to operate, such as your gender and date of birth.
When you complete your profile, you can add more information about yourself, such as your personality, lifestyle choices, interests and other personal information, as well as multimedia such as pictures and videos. You may need to allow us to access your camera or photo album in order to provide specific content, such as images or videos.
Some of the information you choose to tell us, such as your racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation and religious views, may be considered "special" or "sensitive" in some countries. If you choose to provide this information, you consent to our processing of it.
When you provide us or our payment service providers with your debit or credit card number or other financial information, if you subscribe to a paid service or purchase directly from us (not through a mobile platform such as iOS or Android).
When you participate in surveys or focus groups, you provide us with information about our products and services, as well as responses to our questions and recommendations.
When you choose to participate in our promotions, events or competitions, we collect your details for registration or entry.
Whenever you contact our customer service staff, we collect the information you provide throughout the conversation. We occasionally monitor or record these exchanges for training reasons to ensure high quality service.
If you ask us to communicate with others or process their information (for example, you may ask us to send an email to one of your friends on your behalf), we may collect the information you provide to us about others in order to fulfill your request.
Of course, as part of the operation of the service, we also process your discussions with other users and the information you upload.
In addition to the information you provide to us directly, we also get information about you from third parties, such as:
Social networking sites. You can create and log into your Picky account using your social network login (e.g., Facebook login). This allows you to share your social network account information with us without having to enter your login name and password.
Other People. When other users use our services, they may provide details about you. For example, if other users contact us about your situation, we may collect information about you from them.
Other Partners. Other partners may get information about you from our partners, such as when Picky ads are posted on partners, platforms and websites (in which case they may send details of the success of the campaign).
We collect information about which features you have used, how you have used them, and the devices you use to access our Services when you use them. More information is available below:
Usage Information
We may collect information about your activities on our Services, like how you use them (like the date and time you logged in, the features you have been using, the searches, clicks, pages you were shown, the web addresses that referred you, the ads you clicked on) and how you interact with other users (or the time and date you contacted and communicated with users, the number of messages you sent and received).
Device Information
We collect data from the devices you use to access our Services, such as:
Sensor data from your device, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and compasses;
Hardware and software information: This information includes your IP address, device- and app-specific settings and characteristics, app crashes, advertising IDs (such as Google's AAID and Apple's IDFA, which are randomly generated values that you can reset through your device settings), device ID and type, the type, version, and language of the browser you use, your device operating system, time zone, other virtual identifiers used by cookies or other technologies that may uniquely identify your device or browser (such as IMEI/UDID and MAC address);
Details of your wireless and mobile network connection, service provider, and signal strength;
Information about device sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and compasses.
Other Information with Your Consent
If you allow us to do so, we may collect your precise geolocation (latitude and longitude) through various methods, depending on the Services and device you use, such as GPS, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection. We may collect your geolocation information in the background even when you are not using the Services, if you grant us authorization in your device settings that explicitly allows such collection. If you deny permission, we will not collect your geolocation information. Similarly, with your permission, we may collect images and videos (for example, if you want to post photos, videos or stream on the Services).
We implement cookies and similar technologies (e.g., web beacons, pixels) to recognize you and/or your device, and we may also allow third parties to use them. You can read our Cookie Policy to learn why we use them (e.g., to authenticate you, remember your preferences and settings, analyze website traffic and trends, deliver and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, and allow you to use social features), and how to better control their use through browser settings and other tools.
Some web browsers, such as Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome, include a "Do Not Track" ("DNT") feature that informs a website that a user does not want his or her online behavior recorded. If a website that responds to DNT signals receives a DNT signal, the browser can prevent that website from collecting certain information about the browser user. DNT signals are not yet standard, and not all browsers support them. As a result, many companies, including Picky, do not yet respond to DNT signals.
The main reason we use your information is to improve our services and provide the best personal experience. In addition, we use your personal information to protect your security and to show you ads that may be of interest to you. You can continue reading for a more in-depth discussion of the many reasons we use your information, as well as some examples.

Provide you with our services: Most often, we may process your information to perform the contract you have with us. For example, when you use our services to make meaningful connections, we use your information to keep your personal account and profile up to date, make it visible to other users, and recommend other users to you.
Legitimate interests: We may use your information if we have a good reason to do so. For example, we evaluate users’ activity on our services to continually improve them, we recommend offers we think may interest you, and we process information for administrative, fraud detection, and other legal purposes.
Consent: From time to time, we may ask for your permission to use your information for certain purposes. You have the right to revoke your personal consent at any time by contacting us via the email address indicated in the following section of this privacy policy.
Because our purpose is to help you build meaningful relationships, most of the information users share is of course shared with other users.
We also share some user information with some service providers and partners who help us operate the Service, as well as other Picky related organizations and, in some cases, with government departments.
Read on to learn more about how your information is shared with others.
With Other Users. When you freely provide information on the Site, you will share it with other users (including your public profile). Please exercise caution when filling out too much information in your profile. Make sure what you submit is information you are willing to see publicly. Once you share your information, neither we nor you can control what other users do with your information. If you want to adjust the filters to make your profile available only to certain users, your information will be displayed according to your preferences.
With our service providers and partners. We may rely on third-party vendors to assist with our day-to-day operations and improve the user experience. These third parties help us with different tasks, such as analytics, data hosting and maintenance, payment processing, customer service, marketing, advertising, and security operations. We may also share information with partners who distribute and assist us in displaying ads on our services. For example, we may share limited information about you in a hashed, non-human-readable form with advertising partners. We follow a strict review protocol before engaging with any service provider or working with any partner to ensure that our operations are safe and secure, including the security of your information. All of our service providers and partners are required to sign a nondisclosure agreement. We also work with third-party vendors who provide AI services to enhance the user experience, such as generating conversational icebreakers or images. These vendors may process user data only for the purposes of our contract with them and are not permitted to use the data for any other reason. This may involve processing user data, such as demographic information, location, and messages, to generate AI-assisted responses or icebreakers. Data used in this manner is processed in real time and is not stored by our AI partners. Your raw data is never used for any other purpose without your explicit consent.
Corporate Transactions. We may transfer your information if we engage in a merger, acquisition, sale, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, bankruptcy, or other change of ownership or control of all or part of our business.
When Required by Law. We may disclose your information to necessary parties as reasonably necessary to: (i) comply with legal process, such as a court order, subpoena or search warrant, government/law enforcement investigation, or other legal requirement; (ii) assist in the prevention or detection of crime (in each case subject to applicable law); or (iii) protect the safety of any person.
Exercise Legal Rights. We may also share information: 1. To reduce our liability in pending or potential litigation; (ii) to protect our legal rights and interests and the legal rights and interests of other users, business partners or other stakeholders; (iii) to enforce our agreements and contracts with you; (iv) to investigate, prevent or take other action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or other suspected or wrongful conduct.
With your consent or at your request. We may ask for your permission to share your information with relevant third parties. In this case, we will explain why we are disclosing the information. In any of the above cases, we may use and share non-personal information (information that does not identify you by itself, such as device information, general demographic data, collective behavioral data, geolocation in de-identified form) as well as hashed, non-human-readable form of personal information. We may also share this information with other Picky affiliates and third parties (particularly advertisers) to design and serve targeted advertising on our services and third-party websites or applications, and to measure and report on the ads you have seen. These details may be combined with other non-personal information or hashed, non-human-readable form of personal information obtained from other sources. For more details on the use of cookies and similar technologies, please refer to our Cookie Policy.
Picky wants you to be in control of your personal information, so we provide you with the following tools:
Access/Update Tools in the Service. Tools and account settings that enable you to review, correct, or delete the information you have provided to us and are directly linked to your account in the Service. If you have any questions about these tools or settings, please contact our customer service staff at pickyofc@yahoo.com for assistance.
Device permissions. Your mobile device has permission settings that allow location sharing and reminders, such as phone book and location services, and push notifications. You can change the settings of your device to agree or disagree to the collection of relevant information or the display of corresponding alerts. Of course, if you do this, some services, such as our location filters, may no longer function properly.
Delete. You can delete your account by using the account deletion function of the Service.
We want you to understand your privacy rights, so keep the following in mind:
View your information. You may have the right to inspect the personal information we hold about you under applicable privacy laws (depending on the jurisdiction, this may be called the right of access, the right of portability, or a variation of these terms). You can request a copy or file of your personal information by contacting pickyofc@yahoo.com.
Update your information. If you believe the information we have on file for you is wrong, or you have withdrawn our right to use your details, and you wish to request correction, deletion, or object to processing of that information, you can contact us at pickyofc@yahoo.com.
For your own safety and the safety of all our users, we may ask you to provide sufficient proof of identity before we honor the above request.
Please remember that we may deny a request for several reasons, including if the request is illegal, or may infringe trade secrets or intellectual property rights, or jeopardize the privacy of other users. Suppose you may wish to receive details about other users, such as copies of messages or images you have received from them through our services. In this case, the other user will need to contact our Privacy Officer to provide their written consent before any information is released.
In addition, we are unable to comply with specific requests to object to processing of personal details, particularly where such requests would make it impossible for us to provide the Services to you. For example, we cannot provide the Services without your date of birth.
Uninstall. You can stop all information collection by the App by uninstalling the App using your device’s standard uninstall process. If you have uninstalled the App from your device, it is likely that the unique identifier associated with your device will be persistently stored. If you subsequently reinstall the App on the same mobile device, we may be able to re-associate this unique identifier with your previous transactions and activity.
Accountability. In some countries, including the European Union, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority if you have certain concerns about how we process your personal information. The data protection authority to which you can lodge a complaint may be the place where you currently reside, your place of work or where we are currently established.
Picky strives to protect your personal information from unauthorized access or alteration, disclosure, or destruction. But like all technology companies, despite our measures to protect your information, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information will always remain secure.
We regularly monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks, and periodically review our information collection, storage, and processing practices to update our physical, technical, and organizational security measures.
If we suspect or discover any breach of security, we may suspend your use of all or part of the Service without further notice. If you believe your account or information is no longer secure, please notify us immediately at pickyofc@yahoo.com.
We will only retain your personal information if we need it for legitimate business purposes (as described in Section 5) and as permitted by applicable law. To ensure the safety of our users when using and closing our Services, we may implement a three (3) month security retention window after account deletion. During this period, Picky will retain account information, although the account may no longer be visible on the Services.
In practice, we may delete or anonymously retain your information when you delete your account (thereby complying with the security retention window), especially after two years of continuous inactivity, unless:
We may retain it to comply with applicable laws (for example, certain "traffic information" will be retained for one year to be able to comply with statutory data retention obligations);
We must keep it as evidence of our compliance with applicable laws (for example, records of consent to our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and other similar legal documents are retained for five years);
There are unresolved issues, claims or disputes that need to be resolved, which requires us to retain the relevant information to assist in processing;
Detailed information must be retained for our legitimate business interests, such as preventing fraud and improving the safety of our users. For example, personal information may need to be retained to prevent users who have been banned due to violations or security issues from opening new accounts.
Please keep in mind that although our process is designed according to the data deletion protocol guided by the above, due to technical limitations, we cannot guarantee that Picky will delete all data within a specific time.
Our Services are intended for use by persons 18 years of age or older. We do not allow users under 18 to use our platform, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from any user under 18. If you suspect that a user is under the age of consent, please use the reporting feature provided by our Services.
This Privacy Policy may change over time as we are always looking for new and innovative ways to help you build meaningful, personal connections. We will notify you before implementing changes to allow time to review the changes.
If you have additional questions about this Privacy Policy, you can send an email to pickyofc@yahoo.com.
